Summary: Bern's Center for Space and Habitability (CSH) and the Institute of Applied Physics are key for quantum sensing with astronomical applications. The NCCR PlanetS consortium (national centre for planetary science) connects Bern to precision astronomical instrumentation including ESPRESSO and CHEOPS spectrograph work. The mass spectrometry group has developed quantum sensing techniques for planetary science. The Applied Physics Institute contributes precision measurement and optical sensing. Moderate depth in quantum sensing but unusual strength at the interface of precision metrology and astronomical instrumentation — a niche but valuable combination.

Notes: Switzerland's federal capital university. Center for Space and Habitability (CSH). NCCR PlanetS (ESPRESSO, CHEOPS spectrographs). Institute of Applied Physics: precision measurement, optical sensing. Mass spectrometry for planetary science. NCCR QSIT member (shared with ETH, EPFL).
